1. Apply paints to ordinary paper – 80gsm photocopying paper is fine for most designs. For lots of solid colour use a heavier weight of paper to avoid the paper cockling. The design can be drawn in pencil first and then coloured with the paints. The pencil lines will not transfer to the finished fabric.
2. Allow the design to dry. This will only take a minute or two usually but if a lot of paint has been used you can use a hair dryer to speed up the drying process.
3. Place the finished design face down on the fabric.
4. Heat the iron to the linen setting.(Use a dry iron ie not a steam iron with holes in the hotplate as the holes will show on the design).
5. Place the iron on the paper and press down for 30 seconds. Move the iron and press again for the further 30 seconds. Do this until the iron has been pressed over the whole design.
6. Lift off the paper and the design will have transferred to the fabric.
Once printed the design is colourfast and washable.
You can also use a heat press to print Paint Me designs onto fabric, T-shirts and other items. Please contact Paint Me for information on heat press stockists.
